Meet Kao Saeteurn —

Author, Storyteller & Cultural Ambassador

Kao Saeteurn is a storyteller whose voice emerges from the meeting point of memory, migration, and cultural inheritance. His work is shaped by the lived reality of a refugee upbringing and by the deeply rooted traditions of the Golden Triangle—a region where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge.

Drawing from the rich heritage of Yao, Lao, and Lahu communities, Kao writes to illuminate histories that have been carried through generations yet rarely appear in mainstream literature. His books serve as vessels of preservation, honoring ancestral wisdom while reflecting on the shifting identities of those who grow up between cultures.

Through powerful storytelling, Kao preserves what might otherwise fade, giving voice to ancestors and ancestors-yet-to-come. His writing explores the complexity of belonging in a world where history follows us, identity shifts beneath us, and resilience becomes a quiet form of defiance.

His published and forthcoming titles include works that blend spiritual cosmology with emotional depth, historical trauma with personal resilience, and memoir with cultural preservation.

Belief

“Every story we tell is a thread connecting us to those who came before and those who will come after. My work is simply the act of weaving.”

Four Pillars, One Purpose

Everything Kao does is guided by four core principles:

Preserve

Document and celebrate the oral histories, artistic traditions, and spiritual practices of Golden Triangle cultures before they fade.

Educate

Create accessible resources that introduce global audiences to the depth and beauty of Southeast Asian highland heritage.

Connect

Build bridges between diaspora communities and their ancestral homelands, fostering intergenerational dialogue and healing.

Inspire

Encourage young people from marginalized communities to embrace their heritage and share their own stories with confidence.

These pillars shape every book, every essay, every conversation, a commitment to preservation, education, connection, and hope.
